What is LIFE Coaching and How You Can Benefit from It?
Coaching is a modern type of counselling, which allows you to focus on your goals and find the right strategies to succeed in them.
Very often people are confused about the difference between coaching and psychotherapy.
In psychotherapy the focus is more on the past – healing a trauma, processing a bad memory, finding out the roots of certain psychological complexes, etc.
In coaching the main focus is on the present and what you can do right now so that you can get the result you want in the future. You don’t need to be ill or have a serious problem in order to benefit from coaching.
Of course, there are many different types of coaching: life coaching, business coaching, executive coaching, relationship coaching and many others.
The most common issues that coaching can help you with are:
- Career Growth
- Finding the right partner
- Improving relationships
- Personal confidence and power
- Finances and resources
- Balance your feminine/masculine energy
- Many others
Another typical thing about coaching is that it is action oriented. In most of the cases your coach will give you some guidance and instructions about concrete actions that you should take. The more committed you are, the better results you will get.
Coaching can also use different tools and strategies. Some of the most popular are: Strategic Intervention, Neuro-Linguistic Programing, Emotional Freedom Technique, Meditations, etc.
And of course, the most important question is:
How to find the best coach for you?
The truth is that sometimes it may take a while. But remember the old spiritual saying:
When the student is ready, the right teacher will show up!
So, I think that if you really need and want to work with a coach you will find each other.
A more practical advice in regards to this topic is to work with a coach who you truly like. It doesn’t mean that he has to be perfect, but you definitely need to feel comfortable and safe with him.
Also, you need to understand that you are the main star in the film of your life. Even the best coach will be helpless if you are not committed and don’t want to do the needed work.
Coaching usually is a process. Sometime you may get incredible results in 1-2 sessions, but in most of the cases you will need 5-6 or even 12 sessions, depending on your goals and the efforts you put.
Another interesting fact is that in many cases people don’t want to end their coaching. For them to be coached and to achieve higher results is a way of life.
That’s why coaching can be an ongoing process which allows you to grow and move faster towards your goals.
The most important is the desire to be, have and achieve more!
